Catalan parl. initiates process for separation from Spain

MADRID, Nov. 03 (MNA) – Catalan parliament has constituted its Board of Spokesmen for the purpose of initiating the process of separation from Spain, where various political forces announced that they will take the issue to the Constitutional Court.

The President of the regional parliament, Carme Forcadell, called the meeting to expedite the processing of a separatist resolution tabled by independence groups together for the Yes and Application of Popular Unity. The board began to meet without the presence of representatives of the Popular Party (PP), which has not made its parliamentary group, and with the opposition from Ciudadanos, the Socialist Party of Catalonia and the Catalonia Si se puede, which expressed their disagreement with the call.

Ciudadanos, the PP and the PSC announced that they will submit three applications under the protection of the law before the Constitutional Court against the holding of meeting for violation of the rules of the chamber and the admissibility of the independence proposal. Catalonia Si se puede, that supports the right of the Catalans to decide but not to accept a unilateral declaration of independence, also opposed the call, arguing that it violated the rules because all parliamentarian groups had been formed.
